Updates

Latest update: 27/08/2023 to include disclaimer and links to the privacy policies of Automattic and WP Mail.

Privacy Policy

Comments

Comments shouldn’t be enabled. But if for any reason they are – when visitors leave comments on the site the data shown in the comments form is collected, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If as a result of promotional work you want specific images used to the website, you should avoid providing images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who your data is shared with

Your data isn’t shared with anybody by Peregrine Social. Nothing is setup to knowingly store or share data – the privacy policies of Automattic and WP Mail can be found at the bottom of the page.

How long data is retained

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so messages can be recognised and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you contact me via the webform, the data is not stored anywhere except in an email that informs me of your query.

What rights you have over your data

If you have contacted Peregrine Social via the contact form it sends an email. The form used isn’t set up to store data so to best your data should not be stored anywhere.

If for any reason your data does get stored and you would like it deleted, contact me and this can be arranged. This does not include any data Peregrine Social is obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments and messages sent by the contact form may be checked through an automated spam detection service. It is not knowingly stored in any CRM by the services provided. Nor is the data for the contact form stored knowingly stored by the service provided, as it isn’t enabled to do so.

You can view the privacy policies of these services here:
